There are numerous advantages to using calling cards. These cards give you a lot of value in terms of communication experience if used in the right way. You may want to look at Asia Mama or some other providers. And yet there are some challenges in locating the best calling card that I would like to to discuss below. International calling cards can be made for any country, you will have no trouble locating Singapore phone cards. Conversations with prepaid cards are a lot less expensive than buying regular phones. Long-distance or local calls can be generally less expensive if you decide using a calling card. If you appreciate mobility, a prepaid calling card is a way to go as it allows you to use any stationary or cellular phone. You can make internationals calls at a laughable cost from nearly any telephone unit. This is evidentely one of the reasons why a lot of lorry drivers and international students appreciate long-distance calling cards as they allow for flexibility. Some of my friends especially like the fact that the connections you make using phone cards are hard if at all possible to trace back to you. Nice, isn’t it? However, when you are planning to buy some dirt cheap cards, do not hurry. The problem with prepaid phone cards has to do with extra tariffs that the calling card provider would rather not openly disclose. Always research the calling card before you get hold of it. The first text that people see when they acquire prepaid phone cards is the rate. However, the rate you see on a calling card may be quite different from the effective rate that the company issuing the calling card will charge you. How come, you might ask. The answer lies in additional charges. An example of a hidden tariff often associated with international phone cards is the connection and ‘hang-up’ fee. A connection charge is the amount that is drawn from your phone card every time the connection is made. The “hang-up” fee is charged on disconnection, basically when you hang up the phone. One more hidden tariff with phone cards is aka maintenance fee the provider draws from you card. It may start on a certain date or immediately after the first call has been made. If you are going to call only your granny once a year, do not get yourself a phone card with a monthly charge. Some companies do multiple minute approximation which is another nasty tariff calling card users have to live with. The typical approximation is to the next minute. And yet in some instances, your conversation time can be rounded to 5 or even 10 minutes. Thus, for example, if the approximation is to the next 5 minutes, you can talk for 7 minutes and be asked to pay for 10. As you can see from this publication, there are huge benefits of employing calling cards, yet some research is necessary before you proceed with your investment.
