By: George White

Knowing how much to spend and when your over spending is one of the biggest concerns when it comes to funeral flowers it’s very easy to spend easily over 500.00 when purchasing the family flowers for your loved ones funeral. Most families want a beautiful spread of flowers during the viewing of their loved ones and can easily over spend.

Talk to your florist about your budget and let them know before hand how much you have in your budget for the funeral flowers. Sympathy flowers come in a very wide range of prices, styles and sizes and there is something for everyone’s budget.

If your budget is not very big you can opt for carnations with roses added in instead of the majority of the arrangement being roses. This is a way to reduce cost but not skimp on the quality and elegant look for the arrangement. Or you may want to opt for fresh flowers deliver in a vase, or a potted plants displayed in baskets are all more then acceptable table arrangements. There are many ways to deliver an elegant floral arrangement while staying with in your allotted budget.

When you’re deciding on a floral arrangement you may not want to skimp in the size if you are going to be sending a basket display as there will be others displayed close by and a very small arrangement will get lost surrounded by larger displayed arrangements. Size does not actually mean more expensive it means aim for taller flowers.

The average prices for a floral table arrangement range from 50 to 100 dollars. This may still be a little steep for you so you may want to opt for a plant table arrangement. These range from 25 to 50 dollars.

Wreath displays, Floor Displays, Standing Displays, and certain table displays can be prices from 75 to 200 dollars. If there is a certain type of display you like but it is out of your price range talk to your florist to see if something can be done to lower the price. For example changing the flower set up to a less expensive type of flower.

Larger displays families may want to adorn the casket with can run a little higher for a more elegant display. For example the sprays that rest on top of the lid of the casket during an open viewing can cost an average of $150.00 to $250.00 dollars.

The whole point of sending funeral flowers is to express your sympathy for the family of the deceased and cost should not be a factor. If you simply can not afford to send such an elaborate display then simple send a nice floral arrangement to the home of the bereaved family a few days after the funeral. This lets the family know you care and that you are thinking about them in their time of need.

Sending flowers is a way of showing your moral support and showing your sensitivity as they heal disturbed and departed hearts. The giving of funeral flowers is a tradition that allows us to express love, compassion, friendship and respect for the deceased.
