Online dating is the whim of the century. It is taking our globe by storm and is a widespread piece of life as we know it all across the Americas, Europe, Africa and Asia. This trend may not have hit the Middle East to date, but will.

I ask myself, why are people so enthralled by online dating? I admit I tend to look at onliune dating as a somewhat seedy pastime for loners. Then again, I've been single for how long?. And why should I consider it seedy to want to get to know someone else?

Of course, there are, undoubtedly, people who visit online dating sites to deal with a more sexual need. Many, on the other hand, are appealed to the potential of getting to know new friends to simply chit chat with people outside of their circle.

We live in a cruel world. We pile up in huge towns but have little time to meet others. Our homes are bulging with lonely folk trying to find other singles, but its simply too damn expensive to socialize.

To get out and meet new people at bars is almost hardly worth the trouble too. And most often chatting is both inaudible or just plain meaningless over alcohol.

We, dwellers of the busy cities, can't find the time find fellow humans. So we meet on the web.
