Creating box shots as well as e-book covers can be a no brainer.
By: Mathew Petrenko

Marketing experts realized a while ago that packages matter. If you would like to sell your ebooks or programs, wrap them up. As the good is virtual, so is the wrapping. There are 3 possible ways to produce a virtual cover:

- Ordering it from a designer

- Grasping the nuts and bolts of Photoshop

- Using some dedicated software

The first option looks pretty simple. If the specialist knows something about 3D, they will bill you quite a bit. Every boxshot or e-book cover will Cost up to $160. The second option could work if you are handy with Photoshop. Certainly, the work will necessitate getting a few action scripts that could raise your expenses by another hundred. And there is the price of Photoshop, of course, which is about $700. The third choice is to try and choose from the dedicated boxshot software. Starting from $15 you can get your hands on a product that will satisfy your demands. You will find a lot of programs to choose from. If we group these offerings, we will have 3 categories:

- Pre-made templates, without free rotation

- 3D with polygonal rendering

- 3D with ray tracing

If you choose pre-made templates, your boxshots and e-book covers will look nicely, but the choice of modifications will be the limited by the templates provided. You will not be able to greatly modify the angle or scale the software box or ebook cover. The second choice gives you more freedom, but the simplified model produces unnatural shadows. You will not require James Bond’s glasses to see that the pictures look weak. The third method does not have any drawbacks. FXs are calculated for each pixel. In the end, you receive a truly realistic image. If you would like to have freedom and quality, you should employ the 3rd sort of boxshot software. A wonderful instance of such software is Box Shot 3D. At 40 euros the program is very affordable. It will assist you in making excellent images of your books and boxes, club cards and more. You can see some pics below of ebook covers and software boxes. It would take you quite a bit of work to deliver equal level of graphic detail in Photoshop unless you have acquired the necessary scripts. And not many such programs would let you produce anything of the same quality. You will take advantage of quite a few adjustable properties, for example modifying the intensity of light and reflections, and optimizing all other visual elements. No boxshot or ebook cover should be developed without Box Shot 3D. It will give your product a nice wrapping. And excellent packages will easily increase sales. Go for Box Shot 3D and never have second thoughts about it.
