Who’s Congressman Ron Paull? In spite of 60 thousand supporters donating in 24 hours to his presidential campaign (setting a record by more than six million dollars. Inflation is one. Inflation is currently roughly 10 percents. There is no way to get an exact statistic what the inflation stat is because the Federal Reserve no longer reports how many dollars they are printing out of thin air.
So, the result of this, in the real world, a gallon of oil that cost $3 now costs $3.30!!! That’s easily a couple hundred dollars per year on the inflation alone! Ok, so that is one head of the two headed beast.
Taxation of about50cents per gallon is the other head! .
So take out roughly eighty cents or so from the $3.30 and we actually pay $2.50 per gallon of oil. Which is twice what it was,still, but better. The government has contributed to the rocketing price of oil in two other ways. One, the plunge in value of the dollar is something that the Fed has wrought with unsound financial policies. It affects the price of oil beyond inflation. Since oil is practically a currency of its own, the drop in value of the dollar means that our dollar buys less oil! Also, government red tape has prevented the opening of a single new refinery in this country since the 1970s!
So Dr Paul’s legislation is a stop gap action that would prohibit the price of oil from rising above $3 and it also opens America up for business again in domestic oil including ending the moratorium on offshore drilling.
Because of vested interests, Dr Paul’s bill will more than likely not become law.
So what can we do?
