In the rare occasion that Congress does something right this is something that needs to be supported. When Americans got awakened and crashed their phone system about a year or so ago and they were forced to act on our pressure and voted overwhelmingly against immigration amnesty they took correct action. So did we! The lesson? It is possible to fight the devil and win. Likewise it is possible to have a mutual understanding with Congress where “we the people” tell them…”don’t you dare” and they comply.
When dastardly deeds are being done with actions of great magnatude, more often than not by the people in Washington who are purportedly there to represent us, the biggest tragedy is often the loss of opportunity. My personal belief is that the worst aspect of 911… and certainly it is hard to pick one… the loss of three thousand innocent people, the fifty thousand first responder heroes who are not getting care (unless if they are lucky enough to be treated at New York Detox ), the subsequent illegal aggressions and emasculating of the Bill of Rights and the Writ of Habeas Corpus, etc… are all disasters of magnitude. But in my opinion, the worst of all was the total waste of the outpouring of love, togetherness and humanity which followed immediately after 911 from all all over the world. I was a volunteer minister at Ground Zero and I can assure you that the stuff that we were sent from all over the country and every place else filled every square inch of a large church! But rather than use that as a spring board for love and tolerance in the new millennium, W initiated the Patriot Act, the false “war on terror” and twoillegal, unconstitutional wars.
A similer situationis true about the tragedy of the energy industry. The “villains that control the monopoly and have us fixed and fixated on oil do considerable destruction in terms of our environment and so forth. But the greatest crime is that if they did not have all of us under their energy yolk then this country would experience an incredible alternative energy economic boom and remedy all money related concerns as a result of an unprecedented incredible outflowing of creativity, entrepreneurialism, industry, pride and ingenuity which once made America great.
Recently Congress approved the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act. This bill is a tremendous baby step in the direction which we need to go towards improving our air, creating jobs in the clean energy industry and achieiving energy freedom.
This would involve cutting government subsidies to the oil and gas industry and shifting them towards The development of alternative energy solutions. The oil and gas industry will survive I am sure -- ExxonMobil recently reported the largest quarterly profit for any company in the history of big business and showed $8 billion profits in 2007!
These bloated corporations are not really quite needy enough for more Big Brother funding handouts. This new legislation would enable alternative sources, for example, solar and wind power to receive the funding they need.
Please help crash the Senate’s phone system and Please tell your Senators that this bill needs to be passed.
